New Abbot

Today the monastic chapter of St. Bede Abbey in Peru, Illinois elected Father Michael M. Calhoun, O.S.B. as their ninth abbot. Abbot President Jonathan R. Licari, O.S.B. presided over and confirmed the election. Father Michael was born on December 7, 1970, made his first profession of monastic vows on December 8, 1994 and was ordained a priest on June 1, 2002. He has served as prior and novice master of the monastery. Congratulations Abbot Michael!
